Self-catering holiday accommodation in Aylsham

Aylsham is an attractive, thriving historic market town, sitting squarely between Norwich and the coast of Cromer. The small market square remains the heart and soul of the town and the oldest building around it is the Black Boys Inn which has stood on the same site since the mid-17th century. There’s a twice-weekly market and a farmers' market on the first and third Saturday of the month.

Located on the River Bure in the heart of the Norfolk countryside, it's home to the Bure Valley Steam Railway where you can take a nostalgic trip to the 'Capital of the Broads' – Wroxham. Here, you can hire a variety of boats to explore the magical waterways of the Norfolk Broads and visit the locally described 'world’s biggest village store' – Roys of Wroxham.

On the edge of the town at Aylsham, you will find Marriott's Way – an excellent off-road path, along a disused railway track running to Norwich, mainly attracting cyclists although you don’t need a mountain bike as the surface is pretty smooth.

Just a couple of miles away, you can easily spend a whole day exploring one of the county’s most well-known National Trust properties. Choose Felbrigg Hall; often described as a hidden gem, the hall has a real elegant feel and wonderful stained glass windows, plus there are decorative walled gardens, a lake, a park and over 520 acres of woods to discover. Alternatively, Blickling Hall is a breathtaking red-brick mansion and a historic park set in the beautiful Bure Meadows.
